Insurance Claim Process in Kansas City
When a storm hits the Kansas City area, know what to do!
- As soon as you feel your home has incurred damage, you should contact a competent roofing company to request an inspection. Reputable roofing companies will not charge for this service. Be sure the individual completing the inspection has experience working directly with insurance adjusters on storm related matters.
- If the roofing company identifies damage on your roof or gutter system, request a written estimate to complete the repairs.
- The prudent "Rule of thumb" is to only file a claim with your insurance agent if the total of the repair estimate(s) exceed twice [2 times] your policy deductable.
- If needed, your agent can authorize any temporary repairs needed to prevent further damage to your property.
- Your insurance company will require receipts for any emergency repairs you have completed so that they can reimburse you for those expenses.
- We suggest that you take pictures of the damage prior to completing any repairs.
- Do not make any permanent repairs until the adjuster has had the opportunity to inspect the damaged area.
- Once the insurance adjuster has completed the inspection, you will receive a claim estimate outlining the scope of damage and the funds being made available for the repairs, minus your deductible.
- Christian Brothers Roofing offers free insurance claims assistance by experienced insurance negotiators to interpret the documents for you and negotiate with your insurance company to insure they properly assess the damages.
If a claim is filed, know the process!
- Contact your agent if you feel you have a loss.
- You should be contacted by the claims department by telephone or through the mail.
- An adjustor will be assigned to inspect and evaluate the loss.
- The claims adjustor will provide you with a detailed and itemized explanation or your preliminary claim settlement including your deductible amount and any depreciation.
- Most homeowner policies grant coverage for full replacement cost provided the repairs are actually completed. In these cases, the depreciation is considered recoverable and the final payment is made after your final receipts have been submitted and processed.

"I am happy to share our satisfaction with the services of Christian Brothers Roofing. The expertise you brought to our situation extended well beyond the condition of our roof. I really appreciated your help in walking through the process with our insurance company - especially in meeting with the adjuster and working out the details of the claim. And when the day finally came for the work to begin...WOW! I honestly can say that I have never seen a crew work more quickly or with better quality. I would be happy to recommend your services to anyone."
