A Northland homeowner’s worn-out roof needed a replacement after years of weathering and repeated attacks by determined raccoons. These racoons were attracted to the smell of old wood shakes, so they needed a quick solution. Our team was able to make temporary repairs on the roof until it could be replaced. The skylight was also compromised due to wood rot and warping. Leaks, where the roof meets the siding, were causing mold and stains inside his home.
The customer researched contractors and ultimately decided on Christian Brothers Roofing because of its convenient north-of-the-river location and its knowledgeable representative who met with him.
Exceptional Durability
After consulting with the contractor, the homeowner chose to replace his old roof with a metal one because they are known to be low-maintenance and exceptionally durable.
Christian Brothers Roofing, an experienced metal roofing installer, carries DECRA Metal Roofing, which offers the most comprehensive lifetime limited warranty in the industry. The brand offers superior protection against high winds, hail, fire, and is resistant to freezing and thawing caused by snow and ice.
The Northland customer perused the variety of styles and colors and selected a black roof to match his red brick house, black shutters, and white trim.
With converting from a wood shake roof to a DECRA Metal roof, all new decking had to be installed. We had to ensure all other aspects of the home would not be affected negatively by making this change such as the skylight and the home’s siding connecting to the flat roofs on the home. While estimating for replacing the two small flat roofs, we performed a core sample to ensure there was only one layer of existing roofing and the decking was in good shape.
Overcoming Challenges and Saving Costs
The two flat roofs had a decorative heavy handrail system sitting on the flat roof. We had to use blocking to elevate the rail in order to get the new TPO membrane under it. By doing this, we saved the customer money as the only other alternative would be to remove and rebuild the rail system once the roof was completed.
Another challenge was the height of the roof. Christian Brothers Roofing worked diligently with multiple ladders and were able to tackle the project safely.
Courteous, conscientious service, and a gorgeous new roof.
The homeowner was thrilled with the look of his new roof and also praised the company’s crew, citing their attention to detail and their ability to tackle the challenges that came up throughout the project.
“It’s an honest, reputable company and the employees are first class,” he said.
